When Author Jerry Spinelli talks to school kids, he tells them to be more like his character Maniac Magee and less like him. Why? Because as a kid, he didn’t read much. Sure, there were comic books, the sports page, and the back of cereal boxes. Looking back, he wishes he were more like Maniac Magee, always with a book no matter where he goes.
