When Author Jerry Spinelli learned about a Stargirl Society at a school in Ohio, he travelled to see what it was all about. Based on his Stargirl Series, these expanding societies are made up of groups of middle school and high school girls who engage in Stargirl-like activities like hosting an Inner Beauty Pageant and or getting permission from their school principal to walk the halls after hours to leave anonymous and complimentary notes in classmates’ lockers.
