Using Student Engagement to Improve Adolescent Literacy

For struggling adolescent readers, creating student interest is as vital as teaching language skills.

Learning Point Associates created the “Quick Key” action guide series to help schools navigate changes entailed by the federal No Child Left Behind law. Guide #10 identifies four areas through which policymakers, administrators and teachers can support student engagement: curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development. In each category, the guide offers sample “action options” for schools, school districts, and states.
