Ideas for books enter the imagination in countless ways. Author Pam Muñoz Ryan remembers reading a book about famous women, the subtitle of which included the word “myths.” In one paragraph, she read that in 1933, when Amelia Earhart was staying at the White House, she took Eleanor Roosevelt for her first night flight over Washington, DC. Wondering if it was true or a myth, she started doing some research and found it was not a myth. From there her book, Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride, arose.
