Building Reading Confidence in Adolescents

The authors present a unique framework of research-based strategies for building reading self-efficacy by focusing on four important concepts: confidence, independence, metacognition, and stamina.

What's a Mash-Up?

A mashup is a term most often used in the fields of web applications, music, and video. The wiktionary defines mash-up as "a derivative work consisting of two pieces of~media conjoined in some interesting way." In music, you might combine the lyrics of one song and the tune of another; in computer applications, it's taking your Google Map and adding online photos. In other words, you take one thing, add another, and create a unique third thing.

Here on AdLit.org, librarian Jamie Watson will mash up research, literature, and her personal experience with kids and teens to help you find books that will stimulate a passion for reading in even the most reluctant readers.
